Introduction: As a remodeling project, “Grand Josun Busan” has undergone massive renovations since 2018-2019 for its design and construction completed in June 2020. On October 7th, Grand Josun Busan is grandly opened and welcomed guests with its luxury 5-star hotel representing Haeundae Beach. The newly-named “Grand Josun Hotel” which takes over the previously occupied Novotel in Haeundae aimed to modernize the image of ancient medieval castle on the beach, breaking away from the design interpretation that emphasized the horizontality of existing buildings. Overall, the classical style is applied in a refined way to create luxurious atmosphere, yet low-rise zones near the Haeundae Beach are composed of curtain walls, creating a modern image. Moreover, the front of house (FOH) spaces has been changed significantly in visual aspect. A high glass atrium is designed in the lobby, which may feel a bit stuffy, considering both the beauty of the exterior and the openness of the interior. Additionally, a part of the indoor space used for fitness was changed to an outdoor pool that capture ocean views, thereby diversifying the form of water space from indoor to outdoor.
